Our History

St. Joseph Primary School is a brain child of Parishioners from Kyamuswa who wanted to give back to the community after observing the increase in the number of patients. The Church where the school was built had been in existence for almost 100 years. It was founded in 1907 but in all those years there had been only one small Kindergarten school in the late 1960’s which did not last long.

Construction of the school started in February 2006 and the school opened in February 2007 with 430 children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. In 2008 6th grade was added. Seventh grade was added in 2009 and this was the pioneer class to graduate from the school. (Primary school in Uganda goes up to seventh grade after which children go to high school or secondary school).

The school has made tremendous progress over the years and continues to do so. The children are so eager to learn and it is indeed a delight to see them in school. We believe the school will provide quality education for many years to come. All we do is to plant seeds of faith and love, and give a good foundation for the future of these children. The Church and school sit on a 15-acre piece of land. So there is room for expansion. We are building for the future. May God bless all those who are associated with this school in one way or another.
